Lineage: My teacher is Ven. Monshin Paul Naamon; his teacher is Ven. Shoshin Ichishima; both are lineage holders, authorized by Tendai-shu from Enryaku-ji Temple, the Head Temple of Tendai-shu.
Practices: Chanting sutras, chanting mantras, circumambulation, commentary study, dana to sangha, discussion groups, flower arranging, meditation, painting, physical labour, precepts/ordination, prostrations, retreats, short-term precepts, singing hymns, sutra study, esoteric/ritual: ‘padankha-yoga’ (foot practices, – kinhin, kaihogyo, kokorodo, etc.), sutra copying
Meditation: Altruism (tonglen, etc.), breaths (counting, noticing), calming (shamatha), chi kung, deity sadhana, insight (vipassana), just sitting (shikantaza), mudra, visualization, walking, zazen
Public Activities:Â Rotating schedule of Saturday events; 3rd Saturday is a formal repentance service, with Dharma talk and Sangha brunch; “Buddha Cafe” – weekly dharma study and monthly film night. Occasional retreats, pilgrimage walks or training seminars.
