Other activities and initiatives: We are a grass roots, rural lay sangha, rooted in the teachings and practices taught by Eihei Dogen (1200-1253). Our sanhga was among those who helped to develop the first Women’s Ancestral Lineage Paper, acknowledging and honouring women Buddhist ancestors throughout history, which was authorized by the SZBA – the Soto Zen Buddhist Association – in 2010. As far as we know, at our 2007 jukai ceremony (16 Bodhisattva Precepts Lay Ordination), our preliminary version of this lineage paper was given along with the traditional male kechimyaku (lineage paper) at a jukai for the first time.
